Patterned Paper - Giraffes

This stylised giraffe pattern was originally designed by Sylvia Chalmers as a cotton textile for Stockman in 1951. 

In the post-war years, textile manufacturers offered British consumers a range of bright, modern fabrics and spiky designs and strong colour contrasts became the fashion. 

One of several vintage textile patterns from the collection archives at MoDA (Museum of Domestic Design & Architecture).
