Italian rolls of patterned wrapping papers in yellows and blues

Gift Wrapping For Autumn Celebrations

Celebrating the season.

Capturing the season's essence is a charming way to add to a celebration at this time of year. Seasonal colours influence us; unconsciously for the most part, but spring hues of daffodil yellow or summer tones of marine blues seem out of place as the season changes.

At this time of year, for a birthday celebration, Halloween or Thanksgiving gifting use warm, earthy tones for your gift wrapping.

Whilst there are plenty of themed wrapping papers on the market with patterns of pumpkins and the like, simply using combinations of patterned papers in colours of deep oranges, rich browns, golden yellows, muted greens results in a more sophisticated scheme and all combine beautifully well.

When gifting several presents, consider how each paper coordinates with one another.  A botanical design such as a floral looks amazing alongside a stripe or geometry, the two designs will complement and "anchor" each other.

With the days getting colder, reflecting the season can also be interpreted in gift wrapping by the use of layering.  Wrap with sheets of tissue paper to start, this provides protection for the gift and also adds to the excitement on opening it.

Autumn provides an abundance of natural elements that can be used for the finishing touches, alongside a length of natural twine or raffia incorporate items like dried leaves, twigs, a small pinecone or the fruit of a crab apple tree for a three-dimensional decoration.

If opting for ribbons, choose warm hues or metallic colours like copper or gold.  A simple bow or a more elaborate style can enhance the autumnal vibe.

Finish with a tag.  Kraft paper tags work beautifully at this time of year and consider writing the message with a metallic pen or white gel pen works well too.

Combining these elements can create a warm, inviting autumn gift that feels personal and thoughtful.

We have a wide selection of paper to choose from.  Italian patterned papers offer a vintage feel, for a mid-century vibe there are patterns from British contemporary designers, hand-block printed papers from India are made from recycled cotton rag and are lovely to wrap with.  For something fun there are modern geometries with complementary shaped tags including mushrooms and pinecones.
